... as 'sons'. Goodness, what a duffer I am!) has been on my TBR for SUCH a long time. But I MUST read my bookrings. (BTW, Revolutionary Road was really fascinating, and strange. I've not journalled my thoughts yet, but I will.) I'll have to read your thoughts on Man in the Dark, crimson-tide ...

Oooh, I'd be tempted by a cheap copy of Revolutionary Road too, I've heard great things. I needed a smaller book (than Shantaram) yesterday as Mum was taking me out for a Nice Lunch so I couldn't turn up in jeans/t-shirt/backpack. The book that fit best into my (admittedly fairly large) nice ...

Found an ultra-cheap copy of Revolutionary Road yesterday, and couldn't resist starting it. I'd been wanting to read it for some time. (Then back to bookrings . . .)

... Ghost Road by Pat Barker - gruesome, sad end to her WW1 historical fiction trilogy. very disturbing. (4 1/2 stars) 5. Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates - well written, like watching a train-wreck happening (4 stars)

I finished reading Revolutionary Road and think I'll start The Good Mayor.

59) Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates I greatly enjoyed this read. I've never read anything by Yates before, but now that I have I must read more. This novel was quiet and interesting, simple yet complex. Highly reccomended! :)

23 - Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates 24 - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey I have an absolute killer of a headache just now, so I shall post my, eh, thoughts? on these novels another time. Suffice to say I LAAAAAAAAAAAAAVED THEM BOTH!!!!!11!!!"!2!21!!!

Where in the world is Morfam?...you ask...maybe... He has finally found the road to Redemption, he has trod the Revolutionary Road, he is now a Rebel with a Cause. Football season starts tonight! Yea! How much he has suffered lo, these many months, but how great the feeling, now that ...

36. Revolutionary Road It's hard for me to feel sorry for the characters in this novel. They sound entirely spoiled and like they have too much time free time and no real problems, so they just invent imaginary ones. I'm probably just missing the point of the book.

I've finished Revolutionary Road and now I need something fluffy. I don't really want to think. The problem is that I don't really have anything too fluffy in my library. Suggestions?

I'm enjoying these posts regarding Revolutionary Road and need to read it asap.

I have been thinking about reading Revolutionary Road for a while now. I am yet to see the movie, so I might have to get to it soon. I really liked Vernon God Little. Almost everyone I know who has read it has disliked it, so I am pleased to see that you liked it as well. I thought it was ...

Hello and congratulations on your hot review, listed on today's home page, for Revolutionary Road!

#33 - Revolutionary Road is well-deserving of its masterpiece status. Enjoy. Welcome to goosegirl! As for me, I'm still working on My Life in France by Julia Child. I am so far beyond pleased with this book. I've never watched her shows or (horror of horrors for someone who likes ...

Well, it turns out I'll start Revolutionary Road instead of The Black Tulip. I had the Dumas book all picked out and put a bookmark in it, but the Richard Yates one just called out to me. Funny how that touchstone doesn't work.

I read Revolutionary Road years ago, and am still haunted by the ending.

I bought Revolutionary Road a few months ago, and promptly forgot about it. Looks like I should move it up the TBR pile! I want to see the movie too, with Kate Winslet and Leo Dicaprio. I think it will be interesting to see how their chemistry and acting has developed since Titanic. Kate Winsl ...

Scratch in Literary Snobs : SNOB TV, Part 2 (Aug 17, 2009, 3:45pm)

FWIW, I think Mad Men does a much better job depicting its era than the film version of Revolutionary Road did. Anyone older than me is welcome to discuss, and correct me if I'm wrong. (And of course Yates's book is beyond compare to the film. He would have hated it.)

#104, jhowell, Glad you liked Revolutionary Road; I thought it was a great book and was horrified about the casting for the movie (Leonardo di Caprio and Kate Winslett). You are right that it is a very 50s setting (when Yates wrote it, of course), and I don't think the issues confronting the ...

Finished Revolutionary Road which I really liked -- although if someone had described to me what it was about I would not have read it -- seems like it would be Oprah-esque and melodramatic -- but instead it was quite a compelling pain-fest of a read. Honosetly, I think the 1950's setting is ...

My favorite fiction so far was Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates. Yes, it was published in the 60s and it's been made into a movie, but it reads as if it could have been published today save a few throwbacks. Non-Fiction was How We Decide by Jonah Lehrer. If everyone knew that ...

Finished REVOLUTIONARY ROAD. Amazing. Yates is one of the few authors I know of who make me talk out loud to his books., One of his characters will do something (invariably stupid or, at least, ill-advised) and I find myself muttering: "You fool, you bloody, bloody FOOL..."

I just bought Shantaram as an audiobook. I also just bought Novel Destinations and Revolutionary Road. So far, they are all great. They all have their own 'best times' for me to read them, as for Shantaram, I have a long driving commute and audiobooks are great for that.

#152, 157, 159, Revolutionary Road is one of my favorite books, and bnbooklady, you should definitely read it before the movie comes out because in my opinion there is no way it can be translated into a movie, especially with Leonardo di Caprio and Kate Winslett.
