Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace ... One School at a Time by Greg Mortenson (TooBusyReading)
TooBusyReading: I do understand why I am getting thumbs down on this recommendation. I made this recommendation before the controversy about Mortenson. While it is still an interesting story, I think readers should know that Jon Krakauer, once a supporter of Mortenson and his foundation, has written an expose of apparent falsehoods and misappropriations called Three Cups of Deceit.… (more)

Seven Years in Tibet by Heinrich Harrer (tahcastle)
tahcastle: Conor's cold and miserable travels to find the Nepal families sounded very similar to the travels in Seven Years in Tibet. Both books described sweet wonderful people throughout the Himalayas.

This book was in the same vein as "Three Cups of Tea." Young man unwittingly stumbles into his life's work. This author, however, includes more of his personal spiritual journey and a self-deprecating sense of humor that made this a very enjoyable read. ( )

What an enjoyable, inspiring, and informative read Little Princes: One Man's Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal ended up being. I appreciated that Conor's original goal wasn't to "save" the children of Nepal. He started out with very simple goals for his trip to Nepal and then grew into a position of wanting to help in every way that he could, even keeping his promise to return. An enjoyable, if sad at times, read. ( )

Fascinating and a great read!

I want to go and meet the children! I loved this book and I recommend it for everyone. The play and laughter was wonderful. I laughed out loud so many times my husband got grumpy because I kept waking him up. ( )

I couldn't let go of this inspiring book! To have made such a meaningful endeavor out of his initial whim, I really admire the author's guts and perseverance. A quick, wonderful read. ( )
