"On March 8, 1997, Robert Frank received the Hasselblad Award in Göteborg, Sweden. Among the previous recipients of the annual Hasseblad Awards are luminaries of photography, such as Ansel Adams, Josef Koudelka, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, and Irving Penn. Robert Frank donated the prize money to establish a Robert Frank Scholarship at the University of Göteborg. Flamingo was published on the occasion of the Award. It gives you further insight in Frank's work and its most recent developments. It shows Frank's most recent color collages and sequences of photographs, such as Crow, Memorial, North South East West, alongside unpublished photographs from the 1950's and some of the classic images from The Americans.
