I thoroughly enjoyed this well-edited book. I was avidly page-turning by page 2 – always a good sign. The main ingredients of this book are the usual essential, good-looking, rich bachelor and the beautiful, but baggage-laden girl. They are poles apart, how will they ever get it together? And that of course is what has you hooked – but throw in the elements of a who-did-do-it-really thriller and you are gripped by a book you cannot put down. The author keeps you guessing, right till the very end – I kept getting it wrong, making me even more desperate to finish! Her characters are well portrayed and her pleasant, unencumbered writing style guides you easily through all the clever twists and turns. Do boy and girl get it together ? That would be telling. To find out, this is a must-read.

A typical romance you know how it goes; boy meets girl to whom he is attracted, but he is a star, has money or some such; girl meets boy but not interested in a follow-up, that is she has a child, had a previous relationship that left her uninterested in another; you know how this goes.

The writing has an easy flow, the characters are believable (if you believe in boy celebrity meets girl nobody and sparks fly), it is an easy read. ( )

Wow! I have had this book on my Kindle since 2011 and I have to say that it was a REALLY good read. There were some parts that really bothered me. Somehting about the way the story was written for some reason I felt that I was reading a fairytale at times instead of a true story. I also did not like the ending while I did not guess the Killer I would have like to known more and had a lil bit more drama. Other than that really good story. ( )

For a debut novel, Not What She Seems was pretty good - but not great. The plot line was interesting, and moved along nicely. However, as other reviewers have noted, I found many parts completely unbelievable (and I usually can suspend disbelief pretty well). Unfortunately, I didn't really warm to the characters (unlike in a short story by the same author that I recently read - The Practice Date). The writing was also somewhat flat and a bit choppy - it needs a bit more polish. Not too bad for a first effort - there was enough here that showed promise that I would be willing to try another by the author.

This book was, indeed OK. The writing was OK. The plot was OK. The characters were dull as dishwater, and the dialogue was simple. The twist at the end was just silly.
