This is one of the best nonstop crime runaway stories with a dash of revenge ever written!

Meet Tracy Whitney, a regular innocent young woman that has had the privileges of life afforded to her by family and marital wealth. That changes as soon as her mother Doris kills herself from being double crossed by Romano and his associate Orsatti. Tracy, being naive, files a civil suit against them. Romano then uses his influence to have her own lawyer set her up and have her thrown in prison for a crime she really didn't commit.

Tracy finds herself in jail, as well as pregnant. She doesn't keep the baby as she's raped in prison brutally and loses the baby. Once this gets out she becomes friends with her attackers, and winds up being a model prisoner getting great prison jobs like watching the Warden's son. To make it up to her one of her attackers agrees to help her break out of jail. However, her good nature saving the Warden's son gets her out legit.

When she gets out her prison friends on the outside help her start getting her revenge, and get her into the thief rackets. This is how her life became a roller coaster of whirlwind romances duping fellow thieves, being tracked by a sadistic police detective, and slowly but surely settling scores with the men that took everything from her. In the end she got her cash, her revenge, the law off her back, and her man by her side.

Read it.

I found this book on my mother's book shelf and, already knowing the film, was very interested in also reading the book itself. It fascinated me much more than the films were able to, even despite the actors' stunning performances. The characters were well-developed, the plot was convincing, and the way the protagonist was turned into a criminal had her still left so likeable.

I know this book already has hundreds of reviews about how wonderful it is, but I can nothing but support those opinions. If anyone looks for an interesting new book about a strong female protagonist, I can only recommend it to them. This book is so worth its read. ( )

I've seen the miniseries If Tomorrow Comes several times and I have read this book many years ago. But I wanted to read this book again since I've planned to read the sequel by Tilly Bagshawe. It's just been a couple of months since I saw the miniseries last, so my memory is quite fresh when it comes to the story. I must confess that I do prefer the miniseries, but I still love this book and they have made a very good job with the miniseries because most of the story is there from the book. Of course, there are some differences. Like for instance, Tracy meeting Jeff in the beginning of the miniseries instead on the train in the book. I much prefer how they first met in the miniseries, it feels more like fate than the one in the book. There are things like that in the book, like more heists, more dialog, and a different ending. But it works, the book is terrific and Sheldon really knew how to write an engaging story about a woman who after being framed fights back against those that framed her and then became a brilliant thief. It's just great fun to read this book, well the prison part is not so fun.

In Swedish, the title is Tracy's Hämnd, Tracy's revenge, but I kind of prefer the English title since there is a point towards the end when the title get's its explanation. And, that is such a wonderful moment.

A wonderful book made into a great miniseries with a very sexy young Tom Berenger!
