this installment in the hush hush series is the fast-paced, wildly entertaining, and absolutely riveting third book in author Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush series. As with its predecessor, it starts off with a captivating prologue that draws readers back into the world.

And it continues with a story that will keep readers glued to the page as Nora struggles to remember the past five months of her life. Not only the months she has been missing, but months that encompass her entire relationship with Patch. A boy she can no longer remember even exists.

Even as Nora remains in the dark about the world she had once been a part of, a world of Nephilim, fallen angels and archangels, she cannot seem to escape it. And even without her memories intact, when she learns of their existence, of Cheshvan, of the Black Hand's plans for war, of her friends' roles, of hers, she can't sit idly by.

Because not only does she have a stake in the outcome of the Black Hand's nefarious plans, she has a vital part to play in them. One that threatens her very existence. And one that could cost her everything if she fails.

SILENCE takes Nora's story in an exciting new direction. Instead of immediately continuing on with the love story and the struggle between the immortals, it's almost as if it's a new beginning for the characters and for the reader.

With no knowledge of her recent past, Nora must try to rebuild her life from where she last remembers it. Before her discovery of angels. Before she met Patch. And before she became aware of who she really was. All of which creates a new trajectory for the story, a new opportunity to discover a different - and far more likable - Nora, and a chance at a brand new love story.

This twist to the story gives readers the advantage as their awareness trumps that of the main character. It puts them in the position of knowing when she's being deceived and of when she's in danger. And it creates moments of tension and nail-biting suspense, heartache and heartbreak that would not otherwise have been part of the reading experience, making for an immensely entertaining read.

And with new hurdles for the characters to overcome, new enemies for them to defeat and even more obstacles in the way of a happily ever after, with SILENCE author Becca Fitzpatrick delivers the most exciting, most suspenseful and most gripping installment yet in her Hush, Hush series. ( )

4.5 STARS ★

I LOVED THIS!!

the writing, the characters, the plot, everything!
Ms. Becca Fitzpatrick does an amazing job at bringing the story to life and sharing this story.

of course, as many books, there’s conflict. the author does a great job at executing these said conflicts. it’s never too abrupt. we aren’t bombarded with Nephilim and fallen angel drama, it’s all brought in smoothly.

the characters are great too. we know that Nora was released from being abducted, and we know the trauma that comes with it. i love that she didn’t want anyone to pity her, she just wanted to live her life again. after being put through this traumatic event, she managed to be selfless many times. but in the end, being selfish was something she deserved.

i loved the descriptions of black filling her vision and life because despite her amnesia and lack of remembering Patch, they were still connected.

we all know Hank is an asshat. loving Nora’s mom just to get closer to Nora so he could fuck up her life? of course Hank doesn’t think about anyone but himself. selfishly putting his blood in Nora and making her swear an oath so she could lead his dumb little army with no choice? gross.

and obviously, Patch. ♥︎ we all love him. him finally admitting that he loves Nora and how much she means to him... butterflies. i love how protective he is of Nora but also how he’s willing to let her handle Hank on her own (with him on the side protecting her of course). their relationship is just chefs kisses tbh.

i’m probably not going to read the fourth book just yet because i have other books as my priority. but i’m very excited to read it and see how the story ends. with how it’s been the past three books, it could either have a good ending or a bad ending. though i’m leaning more towards a good ending because it’s what they deserve.

some favorite moments:

“That I would do anything for you, even if it means going against my instincts or my very nature. I would lay down everything I possess, even my soul, for you. If that isn’t love, it’s the best I have.”

“If you need one more reason, I love you. This is uncharted territory for me, but I need to know that at the end of the night, I have you to come home to.”

“Starting with the color black. Deep, dark unearthly black. I hadn’t told anyone yet, but the color kept streaking across my mind at the oddest moments. When it did, my skin shivered pleasantly, and it was as if I could feel the color tracing a finger tenderly along my jaw, tipping my chin up to face it directly.”

“Angel. The mere sound of my word caused heat to lick up my skin. Once again, the color black raced furiously around me like a hot ribbon, but this time there was more. A physical touch so real I stopped in my tracks...You’re mine, Angel. And I’m yours. Nothing can change that.”

and there were many more moments between Patch and Nora that made me blush and or squeal.. ( )

Nora has amnesia, and Patch is a creep.

Nora wakes up with a perfect tan, in the middle of nowhere and has had all of her memories erased, all of them, the first two book's amount. Great.

Yes. The first two books have been forgotten by the main character. God I envy her for once. Over 400 pages of Patch being a creep and Nora wondering how she wound up in a relationship with Patch. I don't have the answer for that either, Nora.

Patch is white. But Nora keeps calling him dark skinned now.

Um.

This sexy olive description of him feels terribly offensive.

Reminder, they've been in a relationship for only two months. With maybe one more month in this book.

Because of the amnesia they redo the agonizing first book's romance all over again. Exactly my worst nightmare. Re-experiencing the worst parts of the series.

On top of everything else she doesn't know what a fallen angel or possessing means. I actually stated in confusion at how stupid she is. "Who are the fallen angels? A gang?" Girl... Get back to school and get an education.

The doctor when she wakes up at one point says she's been given Ibuprofen after a car crash, and he writes her a prescription for... Ibuprofen. A basic low treatment painkiller and he gives her it after a. Car. Crash.

I let it out in the last two books, but on top of the many ways that fallen angels can get sent to hell, from falling in true love, to being caught by the other angels, now there is if any single feather of their body gets lit on fire they will be instantly transferred to hell and so at one point we get this scene where Nora is threatening someone but doesn't hurt them and then they threaten to burn Patch's feather and she shoots them in the head. Yes, suddenly our main protagonist is taking lives to keep her immortal Angel boyfriend alive despite the magic amnesia and not knowing basic things... Gag me. This is both escalating and going nowhere at the same time.

For example, we've got yet another element of bullshit is they begin rigging collars so angels can only tell the truth or else bs happens. That feathers can be burned and send them to hell and nothing is done with these catalogued feathers until after great lengths of antagonism and during the great final fight. This is consistently inconsistent. They're doing multiple different ways to kill these guys when there's already three from the start to utilize. Stop adding more!

Without warning, the character Gabe turns into a bear. This is a literal thing that threw me so off my normal binge of reading this, I almost didn't go on to the next one. Sudden bear transformation!

0 stars. It's getting worse. ( )

Silence was as bad as I was expecting

So after reading CRESCENDO the second in the series of Hush Hush, my expectations for Silence had dropped dramatically. From what I made of the second book Fitzpatrick had done a poor job of imitating Meyers New Moon. However, Silence was a very enjoyable read, starting with action and curious going ons that had me gobbling up pages like a starved book worm.

In Silence Nora looses her memory, or rather has had it taken from her. For the first half of the book she is left not knowing anything after April -when she awakes it is September.- She has no idea who Patch is or even that she had met up with a childhood friend. That is until she meets Jev -aka Patch- and things start to clear in her mind.
You could easily skip the first two hundred pages to get to the point where she is back to normal and not miss too much plot, but why would you want to? With this book it is all up in arms from beginning to end and it would be a shame to miss it.

After Crescendo I had decided I didn't overly like Nora, she was in a sense very shallow and weak minded, this book gives her a backbone and some fighting edge. Yay!
However her friend Vee, you know the one who loves a good munch on junk food and flirting shamelessly with guys....yeah she has gone through a personality change, and not for the better I was glad she mas mostly kept out of the book likewise with Nora's mother who I found incredibly annoying from book one.

I missed Marcie though, nothing beats a good teenage bitch to perk up a story.

overall a enjoyable read, now for the FINALE! ( )
