The setting in this story is very vivid and includes details about the various students and games they are playing ( )This book represents a Realistic Fiction book. It is true to life and involves characters that develop and are unique. The plot works together well and does not seem too coincidental. Also, the setting is woven into the story. Cam is a round character because we continually find out more about her as the story unfolds. We learn that she takes mental pictures and solves crimes. There is some media used in this book and it is just sketches. It is appropriate for the Intermediate level. Genre: Realistic Fiction Age Appropriateness: intermediate, middle school Media: Pencil Setting: The setting is a carnival at the school the kids attend. This is important because this is the place where the action in the story takes place and knowing details about the school carnival add details to the story to make it more interesting. Review: This is a good example of realistic fiction, because student/kids like to solve mysteries for fun. It gives insight to possible real life situations/experiences and how kids would work through those situations. This book is a wonderful example of realistic fiction intertwined with fantasy, because the story takes place at a school carnival while Cam has an unhumanistic trait of recalling very detailed memories. The reader can relate to what happens in the story with memories of their own experiences. Overall, the story is very realistic and amusing to read. This book is about a mystery that Cam Jansen and her friend Eric solve when at the school carnival.
