The latest episode in one of my favourite series; I'm a fan, look elsewhere if you want criticism (even the constructive kind). This is classic McCone, as good as ever. This time she's looking into the over twenty year old disappearance of a young mother; one of her now grown up children wants the case settled. There's enough of the regular characters (now an enormous cast) but not too much, and plenty enough of a mystery, not too overloaded with twists, not too simple. Perfect as far as I'm concerned. Plenty more please Marcia! ( )

VERY GOOD

Newly married, Sharon cuts her honeymoon short when she's brought a case by her ex-assistant, Rae. Rae's friend wants to find out what happened to the mother who disappeared mysteriously over 20 years ago - a very cold case.

Reading this, it felt very familiar, although my reading log doesn't show I've read it before. Okay addition to the series although at this point I'm mostly reading for the characters not the mystery.

A woman wants to know why her mother disappeared from her life. Sharon takes the case - and then the client disappears. A solid puzzle with an ending that surprised me.

Sharon McCone tracks down missing person on 22-year cold case. Fairly straight foward with no twists and turns. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0446619310, Mass Market Paperback)

In the latest installment in this critically acclaimed series, McCone is hired to investigate one of San Luis Obispo County's most puzzling cold cases. A generation ago, Laurel Greenwood, a housewife and artist, inexplicably vanished, leaving her young daughter alone. Now, new evidence suggests that the missing woman may have led a strange double life. But before McCone can penetrate the tangled mystery, she must first solve a second disappearance that of her client, the now grown daughter of Laurel Greenwood. The case, which forces Sharon to explore the darker sides of two marriages, comes uncomfortably close on the heels of her own marriage to Hy Ripinsky, and she begins to doubt the wisdom of her impulsive trip to the Reno wedding chapel.

A 22-year-old missing persons case is certainly cold, but when the missing woman's daughter also vanishes, just after hiring Sharon McCone to solve the puzzle, suddenly the heat is on. As if that weren't enough, marriage seems the key to the mystery and as a newly wed herself, Sharon feels a personal interest.… (more)
