Cute book with lovely illustrations. I thought it might work for my kindergarten class when studying biographies but not the right fit. Book was a little long and kids were not engaged with the story.Just Being Audrey by Margaret Cardillo (and illustrated by Julia Denos) is an adorable children's biography of film star and human rigts activist Audrey Hepburn. In a scant 32 pages, Cardillo presents the life of Audrey Hepburn as a collection of qualities that children should strive to achieve--hard work; kindness; helping others; and self-acceptance. The illustrations are soft-colored and almost dreamlike. It is a beautiful book for every Audrey Hepburn fan (like myself) to own or a beautiful book to gift every children who ever felt as though they were too awkward (or untalented0 to fit in. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I am a huge fan of Audrey Hepburn so I knew that when I saw this book on Early Review, I had to try to get it. I loved the way the book is written and think that even if you aren't an Audrey Hepburn fan, any young girl will love this story of her life. Just Being Audrey tells the story of the famous actress Audrey Hepburn. As a little girl, she grew up in Nazi occupied Europe and eventually made it all the way to Hollywood. Her sense of fashion, grace and kindness made her loved by generations. I enjoyed reading this book because it showed a different side of Audrey that I did not know about. I learned through reading that she was an active UNICEF member and fought for children all over the world. She is much more than a fashion icon and a pretty face. I believe this would be a good addition to any library because it tell the story of a young girl working hard and achieving her dreams. no reviews | add a review
