208. Men at Arms - Terry Pratchett This completes my reading of the Discworld City Watch subseries, and I have really enjoyed them all. This book works on a lot of levels: it's got all the usual wit and humour, and it also works as a police-procedural mystery. There are the usual troll- ...

If Detritus is not in the watch yet it has to be before Men at Arms... No idea. I haven't finished all of the Discworlds, so it might be one I haven't read.

Well, I have had The Book Thief on there for a while that I have been wanting to read, but I was looking through Men at Arms and I can hear it calling my name.

... because I preordered it along with the newest Bloody Jack book by L.A. Meyer. I did buy two Terry Pratchett books yesterday Men at Arms and Hogfather I've become addicted to Pratchett and think that I need a support group for it.

Men at Arms by Terry Pratchett. One of my favourite Discworld novels.

I love, love, love Carrot. I think that the two things that capture him best are the scene in Men At Arms when he returns to the Fools' Guild having been given orders to leave in peace if they won't answer his questions readily and manages to give the impression that his orders were exactly the ...

... but there's a strain of ruthlessness in him that's worrisome. And his line of "Personal isn't the same as important" in Men at Arms is very telling. I don't thing Angua is going to be happy with him in the long term.

Right now I'm juggling rereads of Night Watch and Men at Arms and reading Guards! Guards! for the first time. Just finished Thud! yesterday! I LOVE the Watch arc, by far my favorite, but I'm so hopelessly out of order. To give you an idea, the first Watch novel I read was Night Watch. ...

Men At Arms, and Soul Music. I need to stop buying books. The piles ALREADY threaten anyone who wanders nearby...

... Looks like this-- What, now you need the next Vimes book, and you really need to have Guards! Guards! before Men at Arms!

I once again caved, and bought Men At Arms and Soul Music. I may need a Pratchett intervention. Like, now.

I just finsihed Men at Arms not his very best, but one of my favourites. I don't like Small Gods at all, although I know I'm in a minority here. #48 you don't like Susan ?! - she's one of my favourite characters! I'm always surprised at the variety of responses to Terry's works.

I found Equal Rites at the library book sale and snatched it up. I may read it next. Men at Arms is on my list for the 999 challenge, so I'm saving it for next year.
