Llama Llama seems to get very impatient for the holiday to come. He gets upset when he realizes its not the day to open presents. Mama llama reminds him that the real gift is each other.

Are we there yet? What about now?
How many days left? ... 2 hours later... Is it today?

Poor children do not have a concept of time and neither does Little Llama Llama.
Llama waits foooorrrever, it seems like to him, just for this special ONE day. Poor Llama Llama has that Holiday-Drama !
(& he nearly drives Mama Llama nuts doing so) ;)

Just as all of the Llama Llama books, this one is filled with the same rhyme patterns, easy reading, great pictures, and children adore it.

Happy Reading! ( )

This book was extremely entertaining. To summarize this book, it was about a young llama that looks forward to all the presents on Christmas and cannot wait for the holiday to come. However, the mother llama teaches and demonstrates the importance of being patient and looking at Christmas as a way of being together and spending time with those you love. The book does well to teach to the theme of looking at the deeper meaning behind things and to look at things in different perspectives not just how it will benefit us. It also does well with advocating how patience will be beneficial in situations. With these lessons in mind, it would be a great text to read in the classroom when teaching students that there are different meaning behind things (holidays, beliefs, values, etc). Lastly, this book could be used to demonstrate repetition and rhymes. ( )

I liked this book for two reasons: it talks not only about Christmas, but holidays in different cultures/religions and that it talks about spending time with family, as opposed to anticipating holidays only because of the gifts. Rhymes make it easier for this book to be read to young children; the illustrations are simply beautiful. Llama llama books depict a llama family who act regular family; it is easier for children to learn moral lessons when they are told through a fictional character. ( )
