Tally McNally is a competitive type who keeps track of what everyone's doing and how he always wins. But when he gets into a dangerous situation, his friends come to the rescue. Since this is a math concept for young children, I wish the danger did not involve "going down the drain" (gutter)...a bit too close to a real fear of some kinders. Also, wish the solution had more to do with tallying...that concept gets lost during the rescue plan. Still, rhyming text and various opportunities to count/tally objects along the way make this a solid choice for a math unit.
