"I love to build a snowman / On freezing winter days. / But when the sun is bright and warm / My snowman melts away. / There's nothing but a puddle / When my snowman disappears. / If only he were magic / And could stay with me all year!" So begins this third picture-book devoted to the imaginary adventures of the eponymous snowmen. In this installment, the boy narrator imagines all the activities he could share with his snowman, all the year round, if snowmen didn't melt...

Like its two predecessors, Snowmen at Night and Snowmen at Christmas, Snowmen All Year pairs an engaging and imaginative tale told in rhyme with bright, colorful artwork that grabs the reader/listener's attention. Also like its predecessors, there are hidden images in the artwork here, that young children will enjoy searching for. Recommended to children who enjoyed the first two Snowmen books, as well as to anyone searching for fun read-aloud picture-books in rhyme. ( )

Part of the snowman series, this book tells the adventures snowmen would have if they could be around all year, instead of just in the winter! It is a fun, imaginative book.

My favorite of the set, until the last page. It's a whole different story all of a sudden, much more serious & melacholy. ( )

Written in verse, this book indulges the imaginations of children and the fun they would have with snowmen if they could be around all year. I think it would be useful in the classroom during the winter, but also right before summer break because it would encourage children to talk about and get excited for their summer plans.

Snowmen All Year imagines the shared activities a boy and his snowman would enjoy were this the “magic snow that will not disappear, and this snowman be the one to stay with me all year!” Each lively two-page painting is filled with action and contains two ducks, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a rabbit, a cat and at least one hidden snowman for children to search for. The book is designed to appeal to young children and hold their attention through multiple readings. The rhyming text engages children in imagining a yearlong play date with a snowman best friend. Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0803733836, Hardcover)

In this lighthearted, funny follow-up to the previous Snowmen bestsellers, our young narrator dreams of a non-melting snowman friend who joins him for all of the year's events. They ride a roller coaster together, dive into a swimming pool in the summer, watch the Fourth of July fireworks, and trick-or-treat on Halloween.

It's hilarious, happy wish fulfillment that kids will adore. As Kirkus said of the first book, "It would be difficult not to fall in love with this rollicking flight of imagination."
