Will be getting more in the series ( ) Written by an Australian pediatrician, this book provides a lot of reassurance that your child is normal. It discusses different methods and options for discipline, food and eating, toilet training, and getting your child to sleep. The book only deals with behavior challenges - there are no checklists or developmental checks, unless they are related to behavior. i've really enjoyed reading this and have come across some useful information. Dr Green doesn't 'preach' at you like other baby books. He basically explains what is normal toddler behaviour and how to cope with it, rather than trying to deflate your toddler's natural enthusiasm with unrealistic expectations. I'm not sure i agree with his section on 'sedation' though!! Given to us by friends, this version is probably a little out of date, but there are still some good advice for dealing with the most difficult part of raising a child IMHO (at least until they are teenagers!) Covers techiniques for things like eating, sleeping, discipline. In a market saturated with parenting advice books, this is a bit of an Australian classic. As with all of these books, you should take it as a guide, rather than a gospel to live by. There are some ideas in this book that i know wouldn't work in our household, and some i object to, but that doesn't mean i would ignore the whole book. no reviews | add a review
Many parents wonder how the sweet, chubby baby which gurgles happily at them for the first twelve months changes so suddenly into a bellowing, tantrum prone, heel drumming, carpet biting toddler. What's gone wrong? Whose fault is it? What can be done about it? This new edition also includes updated information on childhood eating habits, sibling rivalry and discipline. Light-hearted and authoritative, New Toddler Taming is a must for family sanity!
