I read it to finish the story, but I find that Todd fixates on the character rather than the story. Hence every time we turn around in the story, Fiona is back in bed cuddling six more people. Disappointing tales. ( )

I have loved their books in the past, but I found this one disjointed and confusing. ( )

Follows the struggles of Dragonriders Lorana and Fiona as they attempt to field enough flights of dragons to defend against Thread in the Turns following the dragon plague.

Honestly? The plot's a mess of loose ends and discombobulated events. I get the feeling McCaffrey's son was working with a sketchy plot and some scenes written by his mother, attempting (and often failing) to find a way to string them together coherently. Dragon's Time has neither the feel, the deft plotting, nor the heart of her earlier books. Glad I borrowed this one, because I'd hate to have wasted the $26.00 cover price. ( )

Lorana, Queen Rider Fiona, T'Mar, and Kindan are back and trying to deal with threadfall and the shortage of dragons from the plague. Lorana takes Tullea's Queen and begins timing it to find a possible answer to their problem, eventually leading many back in time to a new location to build strength. It gets a bit confusing with all of the timing it back and forth as well as re-familiarizing ourselves with the characters and their various relationships at the beginning of the book. Enjoyable, but better read right after the previous book. ( )

Small bits of action—devastating battles with Thread, a dragon-egg hatching gone drastically wrong—infrequently punctuate this histrionic soap opera, which, despite its incredibly relaxed attitude toward polyamory, is devoid of sex scenes. Readers may also question why they should bother trying to keep track of the interpersonal drama when the characters are so poorly sketched out that it’s tough to understand why we should care for them. A sadly inadequate exemplar of a beloved, classic series that is clearly long past its sell-by date.

Book description
Even though Lorana cured the plague that was killing the dragons of Pern, sacrificing her queen dragon in the process, the effects of the disease were so devastating that there are no longer enough dragons available to fight the fall of deadly Thread. And as the situation grows more dire, a pregnant Lorana decides that she must take drastic steps in the quest for help. Meanwhile, back at Telgar Weyr, Weyrwoman Fiona, herself pregnant, and the harper Kindan must somehow keep morale from fading altogether in the face of the steadily mounting losses of dragons and their riders. But time weighs heavily against them—until Lorana finds a way to use time itself in their favor. It’s a plan fraught with risk, however. For attempting time travel means tampering with the natural laws of the universe, which could drastically alter history—and destiny—forever. Or so it has always been thought. But Lorana discovers that if the laws of time can’t be broken without consequences, it may still be possible to bend them. To ensure the future of Pern, she’s willing to take the fateful chance—even if it demands another, even greater, sacrifice.
