My first Nancy Thayer book. Carley Winstead is the main character. She is recently widowed, grieving, and trying to raise two daugthers. To make ends meeet, she decides to transfrom her Nanucket home into a Bed and Breakfast. The book was really good at times, but by the end of the book it just became a little too mushy for me and I scanned through the last few chapters wanting it to end. I will try other books by this author. It is a light and beachy read. (less) ( )

Enjoyable easy read ( )

This book was nice enough, but I only gave it two stars because things come way too easily to Carley. It's also quite dramatic, also like a soap opera, so it was hard to feel a genuine connection to the characters. I'll probably be giving the author another try though, since I did enjoy the setting of the book at least.

Though, I am a bit confused as to why this book is called Heat Wave, as much of the major events happen in the winter time. Maybe it's an illusion to the unexpectedly copious amouts of sex between Carley and her love interest. ( )

Good chick lit with a bit of sorrow and a bit of joy. ( )
