ONCE UPON A SCANDAL by Delilah Marvelle is another exciting historical romance set in 1829 Regency England. It is the second in the "Scandal Series",but can be read as a stand alone. See "Prelude To A Scandal".It is the story of Lady Victoria and Viscount Remington,Jonathan Pierce. This is the story or lost love, scandal, secrets, second chances, romance, love, sexual tension,
passion, family madness,a quest for a husband, and the trials of love lost and found again. While Lady Victoria lost her heart at a young age,she must protect it now, protect her father who is going mad,and find a husband to fulfill her inheritance. When Viscount Remington had to leave Lady Victoria he had to leave his heart, soul and his beliefs behind. This is another exciting historical romance where the characters must struggle to find true happiness and peace. A must read. Another fast paced story with a few twists and turns while Lady Victoria and Viscount Remington try to rebuild their lost love and their lives. This book just didn't really click for me. I liked things about their situation, but I didn't like how issues were resolved. I thought that Victoria was very stubborn and confused. Jonathan was ridiculously honorable. Not a bad book, but just sort of left me flat. ( )

I hesitate to go into great depth about this book because it goes off on a very different trajectory from what I expected it to based on the blurb, but I enjoyed watching the hero and heroine become reaquainted with each other after their long separation and watching them rebuild their own lives and each other's. I also enjoyed Remington's stepsister and brother-in-law. I found myself curious about the villain and wished that there had been a little more background to explain his actions at the end, but all in all this is another solid entry in what's proving to be a great series. What can I say, I loved this book as much as the first in the Scandal series (Prelude to Scandal) I now consider myself a huge Delilah Marvelle fan! This book wasn't as funny, but it was still *scandalously* enjoyable. Jonathan came across as such an honest guy, he really takes his responsibilities to his family seriously. It is for this reason he and Victoria are separated. I couldn't help but feel so bad for them, to be separated just when things were becoming sweet between them... but it happens. When Jonathan returns Victoria at first rejects him, but Jonathan is persistent and he receives the full support of some surprising characters. I love that Delilah writes strong heroines, Victoria is no exception, she just wants to be happy. Another great read in the Scandal series! ( )
