This is my go to book recommendation for anyone who wants to learn either programming period, or wants to learn Python coming from a basic level in other languages.

Some of the other complaints are that there isn't enough explanation in this book - this is exactly what I love about it! Explanations never worked for me when I started learning programming. Repetition builds intuitive understanding, that's what this book is all about. ( )

A real "intro to programming, and some python too" book. Maybe it's OK at that. But tooo basic, really, and tooo slow. ( )

This is a very good introductory course to Python programming and using PowerShell. It has ways to use other terminal programs out there listed in it, but PowerShell is the one I use since I have a Windows OS. It tells you to use Python 2.7 instead of Python 3, and to use a terminal rather than IDLE (the Interpreter that comes packaged with Python). This is good, since I got to have some practice with using a terminal application. In any case, it starts at the basics, and through 52 exercises builds up your skills in programming and reading code. Since it isn't interactive, what with being a printed book and all, there are some points that aren't really necessary. Perhaps I will find more stuff to do with Python online. That will be pretty interesting.

I don't really plan to go into programming, this is only something I want to do for fun, so... I guess it is a hobby. Anyway, Python is very deep, as are all programming languages, so I will have a lot of time to go with this. ( )
