BEWARE - - - SPOLERS - - -

This was really bad... Some of my gripes with this book? Where to begin? The going forwards and backwards of the main characters is the first. Nothing changed about the situation, but still they kept changing their minds about what to do. And pretty big things too: keep Falon alive or let her die, stay with Rafael or run away.
The lack of logic is the second deal breaker. Your man is in a life-and-death struggle and you take the time to get dressed after you change? You either go watch as a wolf or you run out naked is what I'm thinking. And what kind of defences does this compound have, when two people just leap over them? And how about this very important ring (that doesn't even do anything for the story) that Rafael can't remove from his finger? Oh, except for when he changes and conveniently swallows it.
There wasn't one character that I liked, I thought they all pretty much sucked. Except for Lucien, who was supposed to suck, but I didn't feel anything at all for. He was just a blank space in my mind. Utterly boring badguy.
I also have serious problems with the motivation of the main characters. It was all so flimsy and badly thought out. Falon going to the Slayers to find out who she is? Turns out that was a bad idea, yeah, who would have thought...?
The worst parts though? Well, the council's decisions were just ludicrous. I wouldn't be surprised if they turn out to be a council of Slayers in the end, so bad were their verdicts. But the worst part of all? The (multiple) parts were Lucien intrudes on Rafael and Falon having sex. It wasn't sexy, it wasn't creepy in a good way, it was just a major turn off.
I'm so glad I bought this book for my eReader for just € 1,99. And I'm still considering asking for my money back... Where are these rave reviews coming from? Did they read a different book, or what?
If you're looking for good Paranormal Romance, DO NOT buy this, check out the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Mercy Thompson, Anita Blake or the Psy-Changeling series. Hell, almost anything is better than this atrocity. ( )

Summary:
Falon is on her own. Moved from one abusive foster family to another, she sets off on her own at 14. Ten years later and now she knows she is different somehow. Unable to explain or understand her abilities, she keeps to herself … until Rafael walks into her life. The powerful alpha Lycan, leader of Pack Vulkasin, senses something about this human. She is a mystery, powerful, probably something more than human, and could be his greatest downfall. It isn’t long before Falon’s fiery nature and luscious body captures Rafael completely. He resists marking her as his mate despite knowing she is his chosen one. For nearby lurks the one who will snatch her away … one that has waited years for his turn to exact his revenge and avenge the Blood Law.
Review:
Action-packed and constantly rolling from beginning to end! I was completely caught up and immersed in both Rafael and Falon’s characters in no time at all. Like night and day, these two are completely different, but so alike, their powerful attraction and innate ability to rule inevitably draws them together to form a powerful bond forged of love, respect, and loyalty. The paranormal aspect was aweome! If I didn’t love shifters; more specifically wolves prior to this book, I would be a fan now. And the sex? Holy wow! Venturing into the taboo, but not crossing the line, the attraction and consummation between Falon and Rafe inspires nothing less than vivid images of crazy hawt passion. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Tabke, having only experienced book by her alter ego, Karin Harlow, before. I was a little reluctant to try a different writing style, but was beyond pleased with this book and am clamoring to read the next in series. I have a little bit of a love hate relationship with cliff hangers at the end of books and generally try to avoid them, but this one effectively drew me in and sunk me with the last page. The emotion I experienced was overwhelming. All I can say is that I am relieved to be able to start book 2, Bloodright, immediately! For those of you who become invested in your characters and can stand the HEA being denied until what I hope fervently will be granted later in the series, who love emotional depth and growth of character, who want to read a story/series that is absolutely worth your time, do NOT delay! Guaranteed to thrill, Blood Law is sure to become an immediate favorite for readers who enjoy erotic paranormal romance. But beware … hearts will break and one just might be yours with this gut-wrenching “ending”.

Very steamy. I'm not a fan of prologues, and this book had two, but after that, it was an enjoyable ride. ( )

The beginning of the book grabbed me and it didn't let me go until the last word of the book. I loved all the characters, each and every one of them added something to the book and I couldn't imagine one of them not being in it. Falon and Rafael were drawn together and looked like they should be together from the first time they were introduced even though they fought their attraction. The emotions in Karin Tabke's writing made everything that much better. The sex scenes were super hot, the fights were dirty, and the world was brilliantly developed. The cliffhanger at the end is really making me angry and I already know book two BLOOD RIGHT is going to be more emotional then the first. If you are a paranormal romance fan this is a must read. ( )

This is a book that was on my radar, but was buried in the to be read pile, until my friend Angela raved about it to me. She and I have very similar tastes in books and she does not gush easily, so I knew if she was excited the book was going to be awesome. I got the book out and started reading and just from the first chapter I could tell this book was going to be great!

We begin the story in the past. There are two groups locked in an anceint war that has been raging for centuries. The Lycans and the Slayers. The Lycan are a group of wolves that have been given the gift of human form. They can choose to be human or shift into wolf form to better suit their needs. The benefit of being able to turn into a human is blending into society and survival. They have almost been wiped out several times by the Slayers whose sole mission in life is to wipe all Lycan from the face of the earth. Slayers are born with a natural hatred of Lycan and can think of nothing else except the destruction of the Lycan race. Blood Law centers around two Lycan brothers, Lucian and Rafael, who could not be more different. Once allies, they are now mortal enemies and one person stands in between them, Falon.

Falon’s past serves as quite the enigma for much of the book. There are hints dropped left and right and I have my suspicions, but I am going to keep them to myself. What I can tell you about her is she has spirit. She is not a sit on the sidelines kind of girl. She wants to be in the center of the action, fighting for what she believes in and defending what is hers. At the moment, she is not exactly sure what that is, but she is very drawn to Rafael and is pondering making him a part of her life. And let me tell you, the chemistry between these two is explosive! At some points I was almost blushing while reading because of the interactions with these two. Neither Rafael nor Falon is very shy and Karin is not afraid to write some steamy scenes.

While the romance is hot, the mythology in this story is what fascinated me the most. I absolutley loved the deep rooted history with the Lycans and the Slayers. Their history spans hundreds of years and Karin makes sure to fill you in on all the details without it feeling like it was thrown in there just for the reader. The way she weaves in the knowledge of the two groups past is seamless and will just peek your curiosity with every new revelation. I am captivated by all the detail in the story and hope to delve into both of the groups pasts in future books.

As for the ending of this story. Oh.My.God. Seriously, it was insane! I was up to the very early morning hours finishing this book because I could not put it down and the ending is going to leave you yearning for more. I cannot get this book out of my head. The possibilities for the future and what resolutions will come are spinning through my thoughts and I am desperate for the next book. I am going to have quite a wait because it does not come out until February of 2012. That seems so far! For now though, I will have to be patient and wait it out. I am hoping the wait will be worth it and the next installment will be just as addicting as this one. If you have not read Blood Law and you enjoy this genre I highly recommend it! ( )
