Fenimo ... ... like James Morrow, Jonathan Carroll and Terry Bisson. AMNESIA MOON was atmospheric but didn't hang together for me. THE WALL OF THE SKY, THE WALL OF THE EYE is an enjoyable mix of short fiction, a lot of it speculative in nature.
I think his mainstream work is very good, his ... ... of his genre works (it's sort of a surreal post-apocalyptic thingie), but Girl in Landscape and some of the stories in The Wall of the Sky, the Wall of the Eye are also excellent. Gun, with Occasional Music is a bit more self-consciously quirky / absurdist, but also good.
