This was my review of Blue Moon, which was #8 in the series:
In retrospect, this was the turning point in the series. It's switching from an action series with some steamy sex scenes to an erotica series with occasional (but ever-diminishing) action scenes. In the process, ... Ok finished Blue Moon by Lori Handeland and I really enjoyed the book but I felt the conclusion was rushed. Your at the point where all the pieces are coming together, its a tense situation and then its over in 1 page?? Overall, the book was good & I will get the next one in the series to ... Just picked up Blue Moon by Lori Handeland and Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost - Two new series for me so hopefully I will like them & have a few books to keep me busy for a bit :)
>104: I'm one of the highly-alienated Hamilton fans. I really enjoyed them up to Blue Moon (Book #8), but then the ever-increasing porn aspects just weren't working for me—it wasn't good supernatural thriller, but it wasn't good erotica, either. They both write very good paranormal series with strong heroines in each book. (Confusingly, both authors use 'Moon' in their book titles for these series, but ... Personally, I think it happened a book before that. I'd stop no later than Blue Moon. Loved the books up until Blue Moon, which I thought was awful. It had the form of the old style books, but LKH made them into Pod People and they haven't recovered.

I understand now what a lot of people have said about the too much sex in the books as the series goes along. If it gets any more pornish and less supernatural-mystery and adventurish and I'm going to stop reading.

Oh I agree with you about LKH and the Anita Blake series. It was actually Blue Moon where she jumped the book/shark so to speak. She had to appease the Richard crowd, so rather than continue to write organically, she plotted it. They all started to act like pod people. It also destroyed ... I thought Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series was excellent, even addictive, in the beginning. Then after Blue Moon, the series went to hell. Anita Blake has gained so many powers, allies, and boyfriends in recent books that there is no room left for the mystery that drew me in in the ...
