... Dilemma, I think. Especially being in the field that you are. I Just bought another one of Michael Pollan's called Second Nature: A Gardener's Education and I'm on the lookout for The Botany of Desire: A Plant's-Eye View of the World. Have a fabulously fantastic and relaxing holiday! 5 ... 45. Second Nature by Michael Pollan - this is a story about one man's adventures in gardening. If you've read Bill Bryson, then this will make sense to you . . . Imagine Bryson's writing (witty, informative, full of mishaps) but instead of travel, it deals with gardening. That's the best I can do ... I'm a big fan of Pollan ... actually first discovered him through Second Nature and then went on to read Botany of Desire and Omnivore's Dilemma. I haven't been drawn to In Defense of Food, it seems like a rehash of earlier themes. Have you read it?
The cover of Summer World is really ... ... and everyone's a bit grouchy... However, the positive side is that less sleep means more reading!
6. Botany of Desire, Michael Pollan; such a beautiful book. While it was less science-y and more philosophical than I'd been expecting, I still enjoyed it as Pollan's writing style is so ... ...
Might is Right by Ragnar Redbeard
Best book for aspiring liberals:
In Defense of Food: an eater's manifesto by Michael Pollan
Best book for aspiring CIA agents:
Killing Hope by William Blum
Best book for aspiring Christian conservatives:
The Necronomicon
Best ... ... The End of America by Naomi Wolf and now I'm in the midst of three (count 'em, THREE) books: In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan, Girls Like Us by Sheila Weller and Mysteries of the Dark Moon by Demetra George. Will I finish any of these before year's end and add them to this ... I finished up The Omnivore's Dilemma which I loved much more than I expected to. Michael Pollan is funny and fresh rather than pendantic or political.
Now I am both enjoying and struggling with The Yiddish Policeman's Union by Michael Chabon. I've already set it aside once when it ... ... Kornfeld
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (for this month's book club)
Woman of Sand and Myrrh by Hanan al-Shaykh
Second Nature by Michael Pollan Second Nature: A Gardener's Education by Michael Pollan ... weather here in the Northwest. I have gardening fever, so started some seeds and also Michael Pollan's book, Second Nature : A Gardener's Education. I'm also listening to Into the Wild. And slowly reading the new translation of War and Peace, and at the rate I'm going, I'll ... ... Wild by Jon Krakauer - audio; and I think I'm going to read another Michael Pollan book, one of his older ones, Second Nature: a Gardener's Education. Since I have the gardening bug now (early spring-like weather here)!
Oh, and I finished Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont last ... Second Nature: A Gardener's Education by Michael Pollan ... a specific question answered. However, I really love garden essays like Sara Stein's Noah's Garden or Michael Pollan's Second Nature: A Gardener's Education. Right now I'm reading The Essential Earthman and The Botany of Desire.
