Un bel romanzo storico ambientato nella Barcellona del secolo XI, accurato nella descrizione dei luoghi, delle abitudini dei cavalieri e delle dame, dei commerci e della società del tempo. Particolarmente affascinanti i dialoghi elaborati e cortesi anche quando esprimono amore e passione o inimicizia e imposizione. La trama, strettamente legata allo sviluppo della città così come vi sono legate le vite e le vicende dei protagonisti, si svolge con accattivante lentezza e lascia un senso di serenità e di appagamento.
