This is an older book - from the 60's. I found it to have good, short explanations of history through the years. Nice pictures. There were some parts of the book that were not accurate. For example, it mentioned that the famine during Mao's time was an inconvenience, but not really fatal. We now know that millions of people died due to the opening up of China. Would recommend a more up to date book if you want a general book on China. ( )
