Across the Space Frontier

The book is "a considerably expanded version of a series of scientific articles which appeared in Collier's under the title Man Will Conquer Space".
In six sections written by people like Wernher von Braun, Willy Ley and Heinz Haber, this is THE prophetic book on space travel from the early '50s. Illustrated with several Chesley Bonestell paintings as well as with other images and diagrams, this book presents a future of multi-stage reuseable space shuttles, wheel space staions and an altogether believable "round-the-moon ship".
It's a fine and readable book about a future that didn't happen - but most of the elements are still quite possible, given time.

An amazing vision of a space future that unfortunately never came to pass. Worth it just for the illustrations.

As a very minor side note, Willey Ley was an advisor on the Tom Corbett, Space Cadet books. ( )
