The book Dog in Boots by Greg Gormley is a book about a dog looking for the perfect pair of shoes. However, in the end he discovers that he had the perfect pair all along. I liked the book because the writing was exaggerated. For some words, the text was bigger in order to emphasize an idea. I also liked it because the main character was a dog and he was well-developed in the sense that it was easy to tell what he wanted from the pair of shoes. Lastly, I liked the book because of the illustrations, the illustrations went a long very well with the story. There was a point where the dog thought back to things that happened earlier in the story, and their was mini illustrations to go along with them. ( )

"Dog in Boots", by Greg Gormley, is a fantasy picture book. The main character is a dog who reads a book about a cat and loves the cats boots. He then goes to the shoe story to try to find those boots but realizes they aren't too great at doing the jobs he needs them for. He then goes back and back again to try and find the perfect shoes. In the end he realizes his paws are the best shoes of all. I would recommend this book for K-2nd grade. I would use this book in my classroom because I feel that the moral is very important. ( )

Age Level: 5 and up | Grade Level: K and up Inspired by his favorite story about a cat with fantastic boots, Dog heads to the local shoe store and emerges with some splendid footwear. But Dog soon discovers that his fancy shoes won t let him do doggy things. He tries flippers, high heels, even skis, but can t find anything that is just right. Could the perfect solution be right under his nose? Wants and needs are contrasted though the process of trial and error in this cheerful picture book, illustrated by an artist whose work Publishers Weekly has called "exceptionally adorable." (amazon)

This is a cute dog that reads a book about a cat. The dog asks for footwear like in his book and he realizes that boots aren't good for digging and asks for other boots to do different things. He then realizes that his paws are just perfect for what he needs. Genre, modern fantasy. ( )
