Gorgeous book, loads of ideas and I love the sneak peeks. ( )

The value of such books is in their photos, and there's enough here for your eye to wander through to keep you happy. A large number of excellent homes from diverse and quirky people illustrate a number of design principles, and the back of the book even contains some simple projects for you to try at home. Highly recommended for those interested in modern design, esp. in small homes and apartments. ( )

I often find myself on Design*Sponge looking for specific ideas and this "best of" print compilation didn't disappoint. If you're looking for something to give you a "do this apartment and you will be living on the cutting edge of design," then of course it will be an exercise in futility since most of the trendy elements are over by now. On the other hand, if you're looking to see how creatives build room for their collections and personal taste in order to draw inspiration for tweaking your own space, then it's a winner. Plus, some of the projects look super fun. ( )

Design Sponge at Home is a companion to the popular Design Sponge blog. The basic concept is that interior design can be affordable and accessible. The first section of the book called 'Sneak Peaks' takes the reader to several homes with several photographs of each. Many of these homes feature D.I.Y. projects and re-purposed furniture. Each home is unique, but modest. The second section feature hands on instructions for D.I.Y. projects featured on the Design Sponge blog. Each project is illustrated and described in detail. A third section focuses on before and after photographs. Each photograph shows the cost, time and difficulty level. Overall, this is a very useful tool for anyone interested in improving their home. This is a really great book if you're seeking home decorating inspiration for your space or looking for a unique d.i.y. project. There are a lot of home tours to page through, projects, flower arranging, and before&afters. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to put some personality into their home without having to spend a lot of money. ( )
