Surprisingly decent for an admittedly dated Crowood volume. A quick perusal of Amazon shows over the last few years the Defiant over the last few years has been receiving more attention. While I can't speak to the new volumes, I can say this book gives great attention to the Defiant while rather short shrift to the Roc.
However, you do get excellent coverage of the Defiant that highlights it's surprisingly long service and includes a chapter on the Mandrel and Moonshine ECM operations which were new to me. The chapter on proposed replacements and a direct comparison between the P-61 and one British proposal were also rather interesting.
On the basis of the basic statistics laid out by the author, the excellent chapter on the NF Defiant and the chapter on the operational ECM sorties this book gets a solid buy recommendation. ( )
