The book is about Mister Bud is a dog of routine. He has wake up time, nap time, rest time, dinner time. Moreover, everyone knows to follow his schedule. Then disaster strikes a stranger comes home at "make a fuss time" and throws everything off! Zorro is little bit bossy and Mister Bud wants nothing to do with him. However, when the dogs discover they like the same things like chasing the cat and napping, everything becomes more fun. As long as everyone follows the schedule.

The family dog Mr Bud enjoys his routine everyday until his owners bring home Zorro. Fighting and anger is shared until he realizes they have the same schedule and the routine becomes even better with two.

Mister Bud has a good life with a set routine. But the one day his owner brings home another dog, Zorro. Suddenly things aren't looking so good...

This is a great book for kids who like dogs or for kids who are having trouble adjusting to a baby sibling, a new friend in their group, or really to any change or transition in their lives. While Mister Bud and Zorro initially butt heads, they learn to have fun together, which is an important takeaway. The illustrations use a pastel palette, sparse background details, and a slightly cartoon-like look to the two dogs, all of which combines for a pleasing aesthetic. All in all, this is an entertaining read that provides humor and food for thought. ( )

A little abrupt - relatively lots of time spent setting up the situation, very little time on the resolution of the conflict. You can't just wave a magic wand/ come to one realization and the rivalry will blossom into friendship.

I want there to be another book, with some fine-tuning of the r'ship between the dogs, and so we can see more of them. While the pictures weren't 'lovely' they were appropriate.

They also are apt in that they only show the owners' relevant body parts in each scene. Do you really think your dog cares about you as a person? No, as Goodrich recognizes, they care about your hands, your knees, sometimes maybe feet or lap, but that's usually about it.

This is a really cute book about a dog who is very used to his own schedule. One day, a new dog moved in and they didn't like eachother. One day, though, they realized they had the same schedule, which made life more fun and exciting. This is a fantasy book because the dogs speak and have emotions. The illustrations are in water color. This would be a good book to use to talk about new siblings coming into your family or to talk about making friends.
