Second in the series, this book shared a lot of the scenes from the first book. It was fairly full of action and was very well written.
The action scenes and the in between scenes kept your interest very well. I get the feeling there will be quite a few more volumes in the series. Young teen age people will especially enjoy this book. ( )

Brandon Marlowe and the Spirit Snatcher is, at first, reminiscent of some currently popular tiles, but then takes off into a world of it's own. It is a story best suited for pre-teens and teens and although it appeals to females as empowered characters, it is primarily geared toward males. It was an interesting read and had a storyline that was easy to follow and had some surprising twists and turns.

Brandon Marlowe and the Spirit Snatcher is a book that will appeal to pre-teen and teen readers, especially boys. It is set in a school for young people with special powers (sound familiar?), whose job is to train to protect the human realm from other realms (Gods, Demons, Sirens, etc.). The story moves right along, but it needs more character development and explication of the back story. Since this appears to be the first in a series, perhaps that will come. Recommended for reluctant readers ( )

When I first read the book description, I thought this was going to be a Percy Jackson clone. However, it was much different. Brandon Marlowe is an elemental titan, and he has power over the wind. He attends a school in Tartarus where he is learning to fight. When we first meet Brandon, he is starting a new school year where he is sorted into a class. When Brandon joins a "squad" with two other students, his adventure really begins.

I enjoyed this book very much. Brandon is very sure of himself and his abilities, and this makes for a lot of action. Brandon, his friends, and his squad are great fun. Scene changes could seem a bit abrupt at times, but they certainly kept the action going at a quick pace. There were a few mysteries that were never quite answered, and I desperately want to know the answers to them. This book had some very interesting concepts that felt original and fun. I hope the author keeps writing, because I definitely want to see what happens next!

To be fair I must say when I started I thought I was pretty much going to get a rehash of Harry Potter/Percy Jackson and even though the story has elements of both and as a lot of the new fantasy is, I had a lovely surprise. It was a great way to spend an afternoon in the sun. Honestly hope there will be a sequel. ( )
