Work detailsBeautiful Chaos by Kami Garcia
After the Seventeenth Moon, Gatlin is plagued with extreme heat, drought and crickets--signs of the Apocalypse spurred by a break in the Order. Meanwhile, Ethan becomes increasingly unsettled as he starts to inexplicably change, like writing with his left hand and losing long periods of time. Ethan, Lena and co. struggle to save both Human and Caster worlds from being destroyed--a task that, in the end, requires the greatest sacrifice. This book is an entertaining addition to the series, though I felt like not much happened. The "twist" at the end seemed rather obvious to me from the beginning, but was still dramatic enough to make me want to read the next book. thoughts on the way... This series is so great! Lots of exciting action, beautiful romance, and very interesting characters. I can't wait to read the next book! I have to say first that I'm very partial to this series. I just love the atmosphere, the gothic touch, this Gatlin town with its crazy inhabitants. I open the book, and I'm there. It happened again with this third volume. It became so very real to me and I read it in half a day. Beautiful chaos is not just another love story. Sure, there’s love but all kinds of love. It’s also a book about family, about sacrifices, about how everything is not black or white, note Dark or Light. The writing appeals to me, as always with the series. But this ending is terrible. I ended up in tears. And now, I have to wait a long, long time to know what will happen. A compulsive reader’s life is a hard one! I have goosebumps, I have tears, I have a small smile, and immense pride. Yes, pride, for a character in a book - how is that for excellent writing?
Ethan was both broken and whole, weak and strong, lost and in charge. He was ready to do whatever it took to save Lena, and all the other people he loved.
This book was very dark, but it really needed to be, in order to make this story be told. And even dark as it was, it truly was beautiful. And filled with utter chaos.
Lena was back to being Lena - most of the time. Link was getting used to being a Linkubus, and Amma went off the deep, dark end - for all the wrong (or right) reasons.
This is a series I will definitely keep on my 'To Read Again' shelf! (
