History/Twentieth Century the necessary intro to the subject, looks less and less dated A pretty good social examination of the history of the world since WWI. A decade on and its still one of the best histories of the 20th century. The great Marxist historian on his own age. This is a very deatailed book, but facinating to read. I've read a few other's by the author, and it is amazing how he ties everything together. TBR A brillant assessment of the time period from WW1 to the fall of communism written in stunning prose. Allocated equal depth to political events and cultural phenomenon and covers the whole world. A disturbing commentary on the extent to which the cold war moved history. |
