For me, the illustrations are what make the book art -- I could pull out pages and frame them! ( )Hondo and Fabian are a cat and dog who are bests but complete opposites. One liked adventure and the other did not. My own personal experience I can relate because I stay to myself and my brother and sister are outgoing. An classroom extension idea would be to have students share things that they like to do for fun or have students bring pictures of places that they have gone for fun to share with other students. This is realistic fiction because the animals don't talk or act like humans. This is s desciption of the activities of Hondo and Fabian for a day. Dogs like to dive in the waves, and cats like to play with toilet paper (at least my cats do). The style of this book is effective for early readers. There is a sentence or two on each page accompanied by an illustration. The sentences are simple and short, but they are enough for the book. Media: pencil on watercolor paper Beautiful artwork. Written for the very young but my older son loves it almost as much as my younger son. They laugh at Hondo and Fabian's animal adventures and delight when they're reunited for the evening. A classic. Fabian the cat definitely gets the short end of the plot here, but the art is great and Curious Girl loves it. 0.019 seconds to build listing no reviews | add a review
