It took me a looooong time to get through these two books. Interest waned a little a third of the way in but I kept going. The writing was very good, and I do want to know what happens... maybe I'll try the third book later in the year. ( )

The styling is captivating, making it hard to put down. My only issue lies in the gross amount of sex. So much of it, but not without purpose, just without borders.

The book ends in a way that--and this is by no means a spoiler--makes me want to pick up the third one immediately, but I'm a pacer. I look forward to reading more by Murakami ( )

A new way of composing, a plot elaborated by linking dream to dream. ( )

It's a Barnum and Bailey world,
Just as phony as it can be,
But it wouldn't be make-believe
