This book was also televised as a special and broke the barrier against non-traditional spirituality through a biography detailing the movie star's personal growth process. A very brave move that has made the New Age possible and acceptable today. A life-changing book for me. ( )Wonderful dancer and I love this great lady person! The Chapter quotes are treasures -- "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." The writing is gentle, sensory, the words well-chosen, and in the way women often have, the content is practical. No, not "scientific", not empirically or algorithm bent. But this is a survivor telling her story, and she is not just sitting on someone else's laurel limbs. I first read this book whan I was 19 and it became my all-time favorite book! I was blown away not only at the subject matter, but her wit and style of writing. Through the years, I have re-read it twice and have enjoyed it as if it was the first! A gem! The book that started me on the spiritual path over 15 years ago and opened up an entire new world for me. What a surprise Shirley Maclaine is... a real and interesting writer that let's the world into her life. This book left me wanting toread more... no reviews | add a review
