The spells are easy to follow with nice, clear illustrations on how to set up the altar for the various spells. It'd be nice if it had a binding that allowed it to stay open on its own though as it's hard to do all the lighting/chanting holding a book. There are a couple of spells generally considered in the black magic territory, such as for breaking up someone else's relationship. Discerning pagans won't use those, but I am disappointed that Buckland included them. ( )Great book on candle magick. Lots of information that you'll find useful for non-candle magick as well. Candles are my preferred spellwork, so I found this to be particularly useful. But the lists of correspondences and associations of colors, etc. will be useful for all. This book also gives information on how to make the ceremonies less Pagan and more Christian in nature. This was one of the first books I ever bought for myself. I bought it while I was in high school, and experimenting with a variety of things. I did do some of the rituals, and I know that this sort of thing works. I don't choose to do rituals of this sort very often anymore, though (if at all). It's a good book on the subject, though, and it was instrumental to me in learning about this branch of spirituality. Ritual recipe book. Dull and uninformative. no reviews | add a review
