Work detailsThe Gingerbread Man Loose in the School by Laura Murray
None. The Gingerbread Man starts by describing how he was made...and then how he was left by the students who made him! As he travels through the school to find his class, he stops in at the gym, nurse, art room, and principal's office. Cute story, and a different take on the classic running away gingerbread. There is still a chanting rhyme, and he meets many characters along the way so it would provide an interesting compare/contrast with the classic tale. Fun twist on a familiar story. The text and pictures are both the strength of this book as it takes the reader through a school and introduces different teachers and facets of the school. The reader will follow the gingerbread man illustrations intently as they listen to the text. This would be a great read aloud on the first day of school A fun twist to an old favorite as a class makes their own gingerbread man at school one day. They then go out to recess leaving him inside the classroom. He comes to life and jumps off of the baking sheet trying to find his missing class. He races through the school and finds the art teacher, the gym teacher, the nurse, and the principal but never his class. He soon finds that his class has put up posters searching for him and eventually finding him. no reviews | add a review
