Fiction. Literature. Mystery. Thriller. HTML:In this Rizzoli & Isles short story from New York Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen, a bizarre death comes with a supernatural twist. Homicide cop Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles have seen their fair share of mortal crimes, but the death of Kimberly Rayner may qualify as inhuman in more ways than one. When corpse of the emaciated seventeen-year-old girl is discovered next to an empty coffin in an abandoned church, mysterious bruises around the throat suggest foul play. Caught fleeing the scene is the victimâ??s closest friend, Lucas Henry, an equally skeletal, pale teenager who claims heâ??s guilty only of having a taste for bloodâ??a craving he shared with Kimberly. But the victimâ??s distraught father doesnâ??t believe in vampires, only vengeance. And now, another life may be at risk unless Rizzoli and Isles can uncover the astonishing truth.

So this was a short story, and as a short story it was good. A crime was commited, Rizzoli and Isles get the case, and Isles solves the case. Everything is wrapped up neatly. After the story, there was an excerpt from the next Rizzoli and Isles book. The excerpt was interesting, and made me want to read the book. Reading a short story was not as satisfying as reading a full book, but it was nice to read about familiar characters. ( )

A really enjoyable fast, fun, and super-quick read, with Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles investigating the death of a teenage girl who appears to have been a vampire. ( )

I was a little disappointed in this short story. ( )

A very nice short story on the Rizzoli and Isles series. Freaks is a spooky story with some strange happenings. I enjoy when things get weird and then Dr. Isles explains it all away logically. ( )

So short it's barely even a short story, but I kind of liked these "freaks". ( )
