I started out being thrown from the two different writing styles. Early on it is apparent which sections are based on notes while driving and which are based on research after the fact. But somewhere along the half way point I felt my self being drawn into the idea of finishing the book much like the author talked about finishing the road trip. In the end I was happy to finish it, much like the road trip, mostly in the satisfaction that I completed it, and occasionally for the stops along the way.
