I really liked this book. It was a really nice mystery story for younger readers. ( )

Move over, Encyclopedia Brown, there's a young lady in town! Ruby Redfort is a snarky, smart-aleck tough cookie with hapless parents and a habit of getting in trouble. A Flavia de Luce character for the younger crowd, with just enough danger, cool gadgetry and sass to keep things interesting. "Ruby was feeling steadily more and more horrible. She would have to actually go over and clean Mrs. Beesman's yard now. She was sure to go to hell otherwise."
I'd recommend this to my 5th-6th grade readers. ( )

In Lauren Child's first series Clarice Bean loves Ruby Redfort. Now Lauren Child has made a series about Ruby Redfort! The first book in the Ruby Redfort series is about a teenage detective named Ruby Redfort. With her butler Hitch and the agents from spectrum she must fill in as code breaker when the previous code breaker mysteriously dies. But when Ruby has to step in to save the day,she must face a bunch of sinister criminals! In this book filled with codes, crime, and espionage Ruby must lean to keep her lips zipped and not worry about missing Crazy Cops ( her favorite tv show!) This is my daughter's favorite book, she is counting the days until the next one comes out! She says that the story is very funny and realistic. ( )

Hey, buster! Crack open this new series starring Ruby Redfort — Clarice Bean's favorite all-action heroine — and you will literally be on the edge of your wits.

Everyone knows that Clarice Bean is exceptionordinarily keen on the Ruby Redfort books. Now in her own starring role, Ruby, a genius code-cracker and daring detective, along with her sidekick butler, Hitch, work for a secret crime-busting organization called Spectrum. Ruby gets into lots of scrapes with evil villains, but she’s always ice-cool in a crisis. Just take a classic screwball comedy, add heaps of breathtaking action, and multiply it by Lauren Child’s writing genius, and what have you got? Only the most exciting new middle-grade series since, like, ever.
