I'm getting this one and Cast Upon the Breakers confused in my mind. I think this one he's framed for theft and loses his job, but another job becomes a full-time one. This is the one where he's supporting his mother and trying to deal with a father who comes home from jail and causes them quite a few problems. The events are quite memorable, but the plot doesn't really support them - just offers a set of coincidences. Not bad, not memorable - probably like most Algers. ( )
