The Gin & Chowder Club by Nan Rossiter
This book is about 2 families on Cape Cod and it's summer. Traditions drew them together and keep them on the island along with their businesses.
Loved hearing how the book got it's title. The two brothers are in love. Asa is in love but he's torn and writes his poetry that he keeps to himself.
Isaac is into the nightly party scene and keeps busy with Jen-one of the girls on the island. He has another at college when he's there for the off season months.
They are both so confused as to love and relationships and like trying things out.
I especially liked the conflicts and the location, very detailed descriptions of the seashore and nature.
Not many characters and they are easy to keep track of. When the summer ends he heads off to college in NH.
He can't take the pressures and his father comes to the rescue but is it going to be enough? He had relied on God til he had met her. She is having a difficult time of things also and contemplates what to do.
Lots of romance and hot passionate sex.
I received this book from Ocean State Library Service. ( )

As a story that travels the boundaries of family and friendship this book is well-written.

Initially I struggled with some of the plot seeming unrealistic to me and initially I didn't feel connected to the characters as the plot was pushing forward. However, by the end of the novel I was emotionally attached to the character and moved by the culmination. It took a while for me to be engaged with the main character, but eventually I looked forward to reading the book. Overall this was a interesting book and story as well as time well spent.

*Note: this book was given to me as a Goodreads First Reads winner. All thoughts, comments and opinions are my own. ( )
