Having decided that R is not enough for them, a bumbling band of pirates sets sail on a quest to capture the rest of the alphabet. ( )

Summary: The captain of a pirate crew is on a treasure hunt to find the ABC's.

Personal Experience: I think this book provides a fun way for students to get excited about learning the ABC's.

Classroom Ideas:
1. I would read this book to my students to begin our learning of the ABC's.
2. I would make a ABC's treasure hunt. To get to the treasure, the students would have to recognize the letters in order.

Summary:
A group of pirate animals go on a hunt to look for letters. They sail to a deserted island where they collect all the letters and take them back to the captain. Only the captain is not very happy because they forgot the letter Z, but that night when they all go to sleep you can see the letter Z floating above their heads.

Personal Reaction:
I liked this book. I thought it was a cute way to introduce the alphabet to young readers, and I really liked the way they incorporated the letters in with the pictures.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. I would have the kids pick a letter of the alphabet and draw a picture with that letter in it just like they did in the book.
2. We could all go on a little scavenger hunt in the classroom and see how many letters we can find hidden in the classroom. For example, the doorknob could be the letter O.
