If you are very serious about thread painting, this book teaches you everything! Price begins with the basics: thread, needles, stabilizer, hoops, and thread organization tips. Then, she goes into basic stitches, and when to use a certain thread and needle to achieve a specific effect.
Then, Thread Painting with Style really goes into, what I would consider, advanced techniques. The book goes into shading, blending, shadows, thread sketching, distortion, and embellishment. Another technique is presented: thread painting onto a commercially printed cotton fabric. (I have always wanted to do this better!) Several other projects are also included.
I have always wanted a book like this. The minute details, and advanced instructions can carry you from being a so-so thread painter to a thread artist! If thread painting or thread embroidery a skill that you desire, read this book! ( )
