Decided to re-read it given my trip to Delhi in a couple of weeks and how much I liked it the first time.

Reads like a novel, with exquisite photographs by Christina Gascoigne. ( )

There have been many books written about the flamboyant rulers of Mughal India but this one is indeed mercifully brief as the author promises. A well researched and most readable historical biography book NOT bogged down with too many details. Bamber Gascoigne maintains a flowing account, in chronological order of the greatest Mughals including some intriguing facts of their jewels. Any new reader will understand after reading this book why the Mughals still fascinate history buffs. ( )
