No current Talk conversations about this book. 582 In the 1940's, there was the Justice Society of America, a union of several of the superheroes from that time. In the 1960's DC launched the Justice League of America, featuring Superman, Batman, and several other cleft-jawed heroes with identical sunny personalities and nary a cross word between them. It was not my favorite comic book. But now DC has retold the tale, and this book is a collection of the first year of the series. Most of the weaknesses of the original line have been addressed, and this book is a highly entertaining, believable and personality-driven collection of stories about a new group of fledgling superheroes (minus Superman and Batman at this stage) who decide they are stronger together than separately. The growing pains, both professionally and personally, are well told, and there is a nostalgic bow toward the heroes of older days as they give a collective nod to these new young upstarts. A good read with pretty good artwork and decent action scenes to boot. And pleasantly nostalgic for an inveterate comic reader who so wanted to like the earlier staid and upstanding JLA. no reviews | add a review
