François Truffaut (1932-1984) vollendete bis zu seinem frühen Tod um die zwanzig Filme, darunter Liebesfilme, Tragikomödien und Thriller. Viele wurden Klassiker des europäischen Kinos, darunter zwei der poetischsten und rätselhaftesten Filme mit Jeanne Moreau: Jules und Jim (1961) und Die Braut trug Schwarz (1967). Ob in Die Unverschämten (1957), Der Mann, der die Frauen liebte (1976) oder Die letzte Metro (1980), immer waren Truffauts Filme Leidenschaft, eine Annäherung an sein Leben und die "Lust am Realismus der Träume". Er hat das französische Kino praktisch neu definiert, er war die Ikone der Nouvelle Vague. ( )
