More gor. John Norman cannot write but he is a genius worldbuilder. these books are texts that became the foundation for a living online human culture. 5 stars for the worldbuilding part, and the cultural importance. ( )

this guy CANNOT write, but he is really good at world building. this series is very interesting because it has turned into a living breathing synthetic world culture. i am rating it high because of the world building. the writing is painful sometimes, sometimes it is really good. it is, however, worth reading on account of the world building, which as i say is on a level with any other big time SF writer. Book description
    THE TRAIL OF VENGEANCE

kuurus was one of the dread caste of assassins on the hidden world of Counter-Earth. He was hired for twenty pieces of gold to avenge the death of a warrior. Now he was on his way to the great city of Ar, where he was forbidden by ancient sentence of death ever to appear again.

He knew nothing of his intended victim, save that the man had taken part in the savage tarn races at the Arena of Ar. And all he knew of the man he was to avenge was a name.

The name was that of Tarl Cabot, the great warrior and servant of the all-powerful Priest-Kings. And that was strange.

Because the true name of Kuurus was Tarl Cabot!

    THE FESTIVAL OF SLAVES

The black-haired girl walked back and forth before me, her hands on her hips. She strode over to the other two men, and then returned to where I was bound.

"Now, you will serve me," she announced. the other girls laughed and shrieked, leaping up and down, clapping their hands.

"On your knees," she ordered. "Serve me as a Pleasure Slave."

"I think not," I said.

I felt the two ropes on my throat tighten. Suddenly the two girls on the ankle ropes jerked on the cords and I fell forward heavily, spilling the wine to the stones.

Welcome to Gor, a parallel Earth, where social norms are exotic and the way of life is brutal. In the fifth book in the Gorean Series, the deadly assassin Kuurus is intent on a bloody mission of vengeance. His adventure takes him from the caste of the pleasure-slaves, which are rigorously trained in the rules and techniques of sexual ecstasy, to the brutal arenas where humans participate in deadly hand-to-hand combat. He witnesses violence, conflict and uncertainty, as the inhabitants of Counter-Earth are forced to confront their destinies . no matter how exalted or debased. Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the first book of the Gorean Saga, TARNSMAN OF GOR, E-Reads is proud to release the very first complete publication of all Gor books by John Norman, in both print and ebook editions, including the long-awaited 26th novel in the saga, WITNESS OF GOR. Many of the original Gor books have been out of print for years, but their popularity has endured. Each book of this release has been specially edited by the author and is a definitive text.
