Well... I wanted to read The Blade Itself (it was a planned read) and ended up getting The Blade Itself.
It took me a bit to figure out why I had wanted to read the Sakey book - I got thinking I had had a little mind fart or something. Turns out it wasn't really my fault!
Of course, the ...
I just started The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie. Not having read any of his books before, I'm unsure what to expect, but I've heard some good things about him, so we'll see.
... Russell (2001)

10 The Wizard Hunters, Martha Wells (2003)

Feel free to persuade me for or against the books I've selected...
... readers could chip in their thoughts on how well written they are.
Joe Abercrombie's First Law series starting with The Blade Itself .
Sean Russell's The Swan's War series starting with The One Kingdom
... of Kings
That was a great finish to a great series. Halfway through this book I decided to read the first volume, The Blade Itself , again, because my memory of it was very vague in some parts. That was a revelation! So many clues that suddenly made sense. The plot really is a ...
I finished The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie and I'm about to begin Beasts of No Nation by Uzodinma Iweala.
The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie
Total books read: 36.5
... to just about make it through.
Others worth a mention are The First Law series by Joe Abercrombie starting with The Blade Itself . There's also an ongoing series which I'd probably rate as high as anything I've read so far in the fantasy genre which is The Gentleman Bastard Sequence ...
I finished Rite by Tad Williams and I've started The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie.
63. The Blade Itself By Joe Abercrombie
Standard fantasy
(3 out of 5)
So before you read the review note I have a low tolerance of standard fantasy (I will try to limit the flippancy) I am only reading as it was recommended to me by a trustworthy source...
Ok so its got all the ...
... series called The First Law by Joe Abercrombie. Considering the size of the book, nothing momentous really happens in The Blade Itself it's more about setting up the characters and the overall scene than anything else.
It's a dark fantasy where most of the main characters are multi-dimen ...
16) The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie
Logen Ninefingers--infamous exiled warrior of the harsh Northlands--has been summoned by a wizard, but for what? Logen is one of a cast of unique and very different characters that the wizard is gathering for a journey to prevent a city from falling.

Finished The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie. It was absolutely fantastic, I don't think I ever laughed out loud that many times because of a book. I think I'm going to read Eragon next, it's been on my shelves for about a year or so, figure it's about time to read it!
... more than your average "scary" book. And there are definitely a few parts that are either wtfcreepy or squicky creepy.
4. The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie
Ok, so I finally decided to try First Law, and I'm excited to go get the second book this week. Straightforward storytelling, and one ...
Today I picked up Chalice by Robin McKinley and The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie from the post office.
I'm reading The Blade Itself which is the third time i've attempted it, i think i'm finding the charaterisations more characatures, there was't much introduction, maybe i'll like it, too early to tell.
... Name of the wind and Stormcaller this weekend, now I have to chose from Jimmy the Hand, Warlord, Sebastian and The Blade itself I've read the first chapter of each and still don't know.

I haven't read this, yet, but Joe Ambercrombie's The First Law series is supposed to violate all those fantasy norms. The Blade Itself is the first book and Before They Are Hanged is the second one. Here's an author blurb by Scott Lynch (of The Lies of Locke Lamora that should help:
"If ...
I bought The Blade Itself and Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie. They are presents for my husband's birthday, I swear! Well, ok, I got him the second in the series because I want to read it, but that's usually how it works anyway.
I bought a whole bunch of mass market paperbacks ...
I plan on starting The Brothers Karamazov and The Walleye War and hopefully finishing The Blade Itself and The Eagle and the Raven.
The Abercrombie book I have been trying to read for about a month now, and haven't found the time to finish it (but since it is Spring Break...).
... all at the same time, which is totally typical of me, these include Devlin's Luck, Fortress of Eagles, Foreigner, The Blade Itself: The First Law , and a few other ethnographic works for class.
I should be finished with Renegade's Magic by Robin Hobb today, then I'll be moving on to The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie and Under the Black Flag by David Cordingly.
Ok, I already posted but I was bad again today :)
I picked up The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie and The Escapement by K.J. Parker.
Ah! I just realised what it makes me think of. Due to the font of the title, I think of Joe Abercrombie's The Blade Itself .
