I guess it's well-written, and the illustrations of the fog are effective. ?But the contrasting pix, of the cozy living room, or the sunny beach after the fog, are not bright enough, imo. ?áAnd not enough time is spent with the children playing Hide and Seek, as the title promises. ?áI found this a very glum book, and I have no idea what's award-worthy about it. ?á(Caldecott Honor)

?áTime of Wonder and?áOne Morning In Maine?á?ácovered the educational aspect (of appreciating the New England seashore) better, in my opinion. ( )

This isn't one of those books with a clear story and a plot and all that. Instead, it's one that just describes something - in this case, a three-day fog and the effect it has on everybody.

It's not a very exciting book, but it has its own quiet poetry to it, and the illustrations are to die for. ( )
